Love Aaj Kal is a beautiful love story directed by Imtiaz Ali. This film completlely is a director's show. It is not an easy film to write and execute. There are two stories in this film which are set in different eras but both the stories have a similar end. Love Aaj Kal begins with how a Boy and Girl meet, have a breezy year long affair and then decide to go for a break-up and to top that they have a break-up party.

The film reveals the story of Jai [Saif Ali Khan], an architect by profession who aspires to work at the Golden Gate in San Francisco and Meera [Deepika Padukone] who wants to join an art restoration project in India. Jai and Meera meet and fall in love in London. They both are fun, perky, confident and above all "practical", who have mapped what they want in life. So when life pulls them in different directions, they decide to call off their relationship, since long-distance relationships, in their opinion, don't work. They decide to break-up and even have a 'break-up party'.

Rishi Kapoor, who owns the restaurant where the 'break-up' party is held, reminisces of his love and how he wooed his girl to Jai. Patiently following her cycle rickshaw in the by-lanes of Delhi and even going to Calcutta to track her down after she had moved away. Saif Ali Khan plays the younger, vulnerable, and unsure in love Rishi.

Imtiaz Ali is a genius. He has spun a two-layered tale of love. Love seems to be the flavour for Imtiaz and he handles the subject with a degree of confidence that has now become his trademark. The music given by Pritam is doing very well with music lovers. N. Natarajan Subramaniam's cinematography is fantastic. Editing by Aarti Bajaj is really wonderful.

Performance wise, Saif Ali Khan is superb. He has given a remarkable performance. Deepika Padukone is fine. She is improving with every film. Rishi Kapoor is top notch. Rahul Khanna is fine in his small but significant role. Neetu Kapoor in the end is really amazing.

On the whole, Love Aaj Kal proves itself as one of the best films of this year. From story to the execution of the film everything is well settled and well maintained. The film will really win the viewer's Hearts.
